Understanding Support at Home

Australia’s aged care system is undergoing one of its biggest transformations in years, with the introduction of the Support at Home program. Commencing Nov 1st, this new model will replace the current Home Care Packages (HCP) and several other aged care programs, aiming to simplify the system and make it easier for older Australians to access the care and services they need.

Under the new program, funding will be more flexible and focused on individual goals and wellbeing. Instead of multiple care programs with different rules and funding arrangements, there will be a single, streamlined model designed to provide better continuity of care. Clients will still receive funding based on their care needs, but there will be clearer service categories, simpler budgeting, and more options for how care and supports are delivered.

For providers like Just for u Care, these changes mean we can deliver services that are more responsive, transparent, and tailored to each client’s situation. Budgets will be reviewed regularly, with allowances for home modifications, assistive technology, restorative care, and end-of-life supports. Clients will also have greater visibility of how their funds are being used and can expect a smoother experience when adjusting their care plan as needs change.

At Just for u Care, we are prepared and ready for the transition to Support at Home. Our Care Partners have undergone training on the new framework, and we’re working closely with clients and families to ensure a seamless move from their current Home Care Package. While change can sometimes feel uncertain, this new model brings exciting opportunities to make care simpler, fairer, and more centered around you — just as it should be.

If you have questions about how the Support at Home changes may affect you or a loved one, our friendly team is here to help. We can walk you through what to expect, review your current plan, and make sure you’re ready for the transition. You can contact Just for u Care on 03 9578 3024, email us at info@jfucare.com.au, or visit our website to book a chat with one of our Care Partners. We’re here to make the process simple and ensure you continue to receive the care and support that’s right for you.
