FAQs - NDIS and Disability Care
The NDIS is a government-funded scheme designed to provide support, funding, and services for individuals with disability. Its primary objective is to empower people with disability to lead fulfilling lives by enhancing their independence, social and community participation, and overall quality of life. The scheme aims to ensure that individuals receive the necessary support and care they require to achieve their goals and maximise their potential.

Determining eligibility for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) requires an assessment of the following criteria:
Age: The NDIS is available to individuals between the ages of 9 and 65 at the time of their initial access request. If you're over 65, you may not be eligible for the NDIS but may be eligible for other supports, such as the Home Care Packages Program.
Residency: You need to be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa; and be living in Australia.
Permanent Disability: You must have a permanent disability which significantly impacts your ability to participate effectively in everyday activities or requires disability-specific supports.
Early Intervention Requirements: If you have a child under the age of 9, they may be eligible for the NDIS if they have a developmental delay or a disability that is likely to significantly impact their functional capacity for the rest of your life and:
They need supports now to reduce their future need for support.
Their family needs supports in order to develop the skills required to help them.
To determine your eligibility and initiate the process of accessing the NDIS, please contact the NDIS on 1800 800 110.
Please note all applications are assessed, approved or denied by the NDIS. Just For U Care is not involved in applications or outcomes.
According to the NDIS, you will meet the disability requirements for NDIS eligibility if you can provide evidence of all of the following:
Your disability is caused by an impairment.
Your impairment is likely to be permanent.
Your permanent impairment substantially reduces your functional capacity to undertake one or more of the following activities: moving around, communicating, socialising, learning, or undertaking self-care or self-management tasks.
Your permanent impairment affects your ability to work, study or take part in social life.
You’ll likely need support under the NDIS for your whole life.
In addition, the NDIS's disability requirements will be met if you can provide evidence you have been diagnosed with one or more of these listed conditions.
If you are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder, aged between 9 and 65 who has a disability caused by a permanent impairment you may be able to apply for NDIS funding.
If you believe you are eligible and would like to apply for NDIS funding, you can do so either by visiting the NDIS website or by calling the NDIS on 1800 800 110.
Please note all applications are assessed, approved or denied by the NDIS. Just For U Care is not involved in applications or outcomes.
